Panic attacks are a combination of psychological and physiological symptoms including stress and anxiety. Panic symptoms can include heart palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, and intense fear. Sometimes stressors occur gradually over time or earlier than symptoms appear, so you may think that your problems are purely physiological. It is common when people initially experience severe physical reactions from panic disorder to think that they are having a heart attack or dying.

Here Is How Coaching Can Help

However, coaching can help you address the psychological cause while alleviating panic symptoms. The triggers for panic attacks can be due to emotional reactions from a single event or an ongoing situation. Symptoms are the body’s response to intensely fearful thoughts and emotions. By becoming aware of your thoughts and learning to relax and feel at ease about situational triggers, you can break the cycle so that your mind no longer activates such intense visceral reactions.

My approach with panic symptoms can help you change your behavioral symptomatic responses and/or address psychological thoughts that are triggering emotional and physical reactions. In addition, I will show you mindfulness practices to train you to relax your body despite challenging situations.

My techniques are direct, easy to learn, and can be applied at home right away. Together we can create goals to help you regain control of your mind and body, so you can feel comfortable in situations that you may have been avoiding. I will support you to learn not only how to overcome your identified challenges, but also to acquire life-long skills that will help you respond to future challenges.

Background

As an anxiety specialist, I coach clients to help them overcome anxiety by online videoconferencing. I have been providing support for people with anxiety, panic attacks, and social anxiety since 2006. Before becoming a life coach, I provided individual counseling as a licensed therapist using the evidence based practices of mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) both in person and through telehealth. I have found both in-person and online formats to be equally effective for helping individuals address anxiety and achieve their goals, and research verifies my personal experience. My preference for anxiety coaching stems from personal and professional experiences that overcoming anxiety can be most efficiently achieved without fixating on the past or adopting stigmatizing labels; instead, it can be more effective to embrace a presence-oriented approach that emphasizes practices to feel grounded in the here and now.
